Jakob Avenius Anckarsvärd is a Swedish painter based in Stockholm and Halland. His work moves between two poles: the rivers of the Halland coast — studied over twenty-five years, painted in an expressive, colourist tradition — and the political present, rendered through the same sensibility. Climate crisis, migration, conflict, the daily news cycle. The motifs differ; the underlying question is the same. Heraclitus observed that everything flows. Parmenides insisted that nothing truly changes. Anckarsvärd paints in the tension between them.

Anckarsvärd studied at Glasgow School of Art and holds a master’s degree from Konstfack, Stockholm. His work has been exhibited across Sweden and internationally, and is held in public and private collections.
